MEYERS WIN IFB EAGLE AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE
ST. LOUIS Husband-and-wife specialty growers and a longtime Illinois Farm Bureauฎ employee are recipients of the Illinois Farm Bureau (IFB) Eagle Award for Excellence. The award winners were announced during IFBs annual meeting December 4-7 in St. Louis.
Glenn and Carol Meyer, rural Steeleville, own and operate G&C Meyer Farm, a vegetable, fruit and greenhouse operation in rural Steeleville.
Glenn Meyer joined Farm Bureau more than 50 years ago. He has served on the Randolph County Farm Bureau Board since 1958, holding numerous leadership positions, including 5 years as president. He represented District 16 on the IFB Board of Directors from 1992 to 2004, during which time he also sat on the IAA Foundation Board of Trustees; the COUNTRY Trust Bank Board and served as the interlocking member of the Board for the Illinois Specialty Growers Association. He has served on Boards for the Illinois Soybean Association; the Randolph County Pork Producers; the Farmers Home Administration; the Soil and Water Conservation District and church and school boards.
Carol Meyer has served on the State Womens Committee; was a voting delegate at the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) annual meeting; was a delegate at the IFB annual meeting; participated in Ag in the Classroom; participated in a Market Study Tour to Argentina and Brazil in 2002 and is a graduate of Agriculture Leaders of Tomorrow (ALOT). For more than ten years, Carol served various roles on the Land of Lincoln Soybean Association.
Currently, Carol serves on the ag advisory committee for U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello and is vice president of the County Farm Bureau Foundation.

MINUTES OF 94th ANNUAL MEETING
OF THE RANDOLPH COUNTY FARM BUREAU
The 94th Annual Meeting of the Randolph County Farm Bureau was held November 19, 2010 at the St. John Lutheran School in Red Bud. As members entered the hall, the Board of Directors and RCFB Employee - Tammy Little greeted them with programs and handouts.
President Jack McCormick, welcomed the members and called the business meeting to order at 5:15 p.m. and thanked everyone for coming. Kevin Luthy led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. Secretary, Gene Korando came forward to give the official call of the meeting. President McCormick declared the meeting legally convened.
A motion was made, seconded, and approved to, "dispense with the reading of the minutes from the 93rd Annual Meeting and approve the same as printed in the program booklet." The President called upon David Gramenz, Treasurer of the Randolph County Farm Bureau, to give the financial report. It was moved, seconded and approved, "To accept the treasurer's report as presented."
President McCormick then introduced Kirk Liefer, Vice-President of the board, to introduce the 2010 FB Board.
Richard Tanner, Chair of the Nominating Committee conducted the election of directors. He entered the following names in nomination for a three year term for the Board of Directors Position for the organization: District 1 Seat A Gerald Cox, District 2 Seat A Glenn Meyer, District 3 Seat A Kirk Liefer, and District 4 Seat A David Gramenz. Since there were no other nominations from the floor, it was moved, seconded, and approved, "To suspend the rules and to instruct the secretary to cast a unanimous ballot for those nominated." Secretary Korando came forward and cast the unanimous ballot as instructed. Nominating Committee Chair Tanner declared these nominees to be duly elected for a term of three years or until a successor has been elected and qualified.
Richard Tanner introduced President McCormick and Manager Ford for their 2010 Farm Bureau Report to the members. Their focus was on the activities and programs that the RCFB completed in 09-10. President McCormick then conducted the other business of the meeting. It was moved, seconded, and approved, "To give the Randolph County Farm Bureau Board of Directors the authority to appoint delegates to the 2011 IAA Annual Meeting, to be held next December."
There being no other business to come before the meeting, it was moved, seconded, and approved, "To adjourn the annual business meeting." President McCormick encouraged everyone to talk to the RCFB Board of Directors, purchase Raffle Tickets, and fill out surveys before dinner was served.
At 6:30 p.m. President McCormick reconvened the meeting by introducing Richard Tanner to give the blessing of the meal prepared by the Womens Guild. After the meal, Jack introduced Betty Fehr to make the 2010 Coloring Contest presentations. 1st Place County Winner:
Brooke Epplin, Red Bud Elementary, Mrs Rushings class, daughter of Dean & Cathy Epplin of Red Bud. 2nd Place County Winner: Alli Klamm, Coulterville Elementary, Mrs Wolfs class, daughter of Christi & Kevin Marlow of Coulterville and Wesley Klamm of Du Quoin
Jack then introduced Darryl Brinkmann; District 16 IAA Director who made a special recognition of Glenn and Carol Meyer. Glenn and Carol will be selected presented with the coveted Eagle Award at the IAA Annual Meeting in St. Louis. Next, Mr. McCormick introduced IAA vice-president Rich Guebert, Jr. to give a report that included the main objectives of the IAA for 2011. Jack then introduced Mr. Steve Stallman; Chairman of the RCFB Foundation. He gave a brief report about the Foundation and then announced the 2010 Scholarship Winners; Elizabeth Blair Daughter of William and Kathleen Blair of Sparta. Kaley Smith Daughter of Mike and Renee Smith of Coulterville. Megan Deterding Daughter of Ron and Paulette Deterding of Prairie Du Rocher. Christopher Fullerton Son of Michael and Anne Fullerton of Coulterville. Ashley Kloth Daughter of Joyce Kloth of Ellis Grove and Dean Kloth. Ashley Helmers Daughter of Joe Helmers and Katharine June Helmers (Korando) of Chester. Jamie Long Daughter of Kevin Long of Evansville and Karen Stallman of Ellis Grove. Following Steves report, several attendance prizes, donated by Farm Credit Services, First State Bank of Red Bud, 1st National Bank of Steeleville, Country Financial, Gateway FS, Buchheits, First Bank of Red Bud, U of I Extension Services, and Buy A Farm.
